Frequently Asked Questions
Does an industrial piercing hurt a lot?
The pain experience is different for everyone, but because an industrial piercing is actually two piercings at once, the feeling can be a little more intense than with other piercings. However, most people experience it as doable, especially when the piercing is done by an experienced piercer.
How long does it take for an industrial piercing to heal?
An industrial piercing can take longer to heal than other piercings, about nine months on average. It is important to take good care of your piercing during this period and not sleep on it to avoid problems.
Can I get an industrial piercing if my ear is not suitable for a straight barbell?
Yes, there are alternatives to the classic straight barbell. If your ear does not have the right anatomy, you can opt for a chain or other flexible connection between the two piercings. This offers more options, including style.
When should I downsize?
Downsizing, or reducing the length of the barbell, is done once the swelling of the piercing has subsided. This prevents the jewelry from staying too long and causing unnecessary pressure or movement. Your piercer will let you know when it is time for this adjustment.
Can I sleep on my industrial piercing?
It is strongly discouraged to sleep on your industrial piercing while it is still healing. This can interfere with the healing process and cause irritation. It is best to sleep on the other side of your head or use a special pillow.
