What is a rook piercing?
A rook piercing is placed in the cartilage of the ear, specifically in the small crease just above the daith rim. This piercing sits deep in the ear and stands out for its unique location and subtle appearance. It is a cartilage piercing with a healing period averaging 6 to 9 months. A rook piercing is usually set with a curved rod, also known as a curved barbell.
Rook piercings
The rook piercing is set with a curved barbell, to which different buttons, stone settings or even pendants can be attached. After healing, you can opt for a ring or a curved barbell with different vision rings, depending on your personal preference and anatomy. At Mastilo Studios, we offer a large selection of jewelry to make your rook piercing shine, both during healing and afterwards.
Care of your rook piercing
It is important to take good care of your rook piercing. Avoid sleeping on the piercing until full healing of the wound. Once the swelling has subsided, it is important to replace the piercing with a shorter, fitting rod (downsize). This promotes healing and prevents the jewelry from sliding or causing irritation.
